That's exactly what I would do. If Apple had to update their chassis every time some new I/O because popular or widespread, that's a tail-chasing game. Provide the "port for everything" and let everyone buy what they need, when they need it (
if they even need to buy anything at all; because many won't/don't).
They don't have to play favorites or try to predict what's going to make sense on Macs for the next 2-4 years (or longer). That's not even fun.
