I think there's all there is to it.
There's knockoffs in white too, of course, but no matter what, any earphones in the next few years will continue to have that brand association. "Oh yeah, that person has an iPod — or lookalike" is now "…a pair of AirPods — or lookalike". Nobody is going to think "hey, those look like Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 3!"
