Not saying one should buy a high end 27" Intel iMac right now. Just stating one powered by the M1 would be a downgrade. It doesn't offer the CPU or the GPU power to adequately replace it. An M1X or M2X with more CPU cores, a better GPU, and ability to handle at least 64 GB of RAM and more I/O is needed for a 27" iMac replacement.
