I've connected an external keyboard to my MacBook Pro. It's a Windows keyboard, so there's a few keys that are just… wrong.

I want to swap:
  • command and option (Windows and Alt)
  • caret and pipe (key below esc and key to the right of the left shift key)

macOS's built in swapping is cool, but only works for modifiers keys, and doesn't actually work correctly with this keyboard: it turns Alt into Alt Gr, for some reason.

So, anything I can do? Is there a GUI tool with more flexible remapping? Is there a .plist somewhere I can manually edit? Someone pointed me to a little key code logger. That's already helpful.
