TiVo and MediaCenter offer ways to record tv broadcasts while skipping the ads and view them whenever you like it. Nice.

But if this takes on, who is going to pay for the content? And in a few years, how much content will be remain to be offered on advertised tv?

Apple may be making itself more interesting for media publishers and advertisers, by *not* offering ways to get their content both for free and without advertising. So they might strike good deals with other publishers and maybe some video rental companies.

If they do, iTunes video and video podcasts might get pretty rich in content and become viable alternatives to soap tv as we know it.

I might finally put that sofa before my computer...
