Heh - just to add to the point
BlueRabbit made. Apple have even been known to downspec some products too after release. (Remember the G4 PM 500MHz fiasco of a few years back?)
I'm not totally convinced that Apple has a bullet-proof inventory control system. Jobs is always quick to sell the sizzle - and too many fanbois are willing to buy it from him too. Yes, available right now - or 30 minutes after keynote - some months later it ships.
Anyway, sometimes I'd like to know in advance what is on the drawing board. Helps budget wise.
