Not for years and years – Flash and Adobe GoLive (!!) were my tools back then. I was going to suggest just creating an animated gif, but surprisingly both Pixelmator and Affinity Photo don't have that export option. There's an
animation panel in InDesign but I've never used it myself... if you
do get that to work I'd love to hear about how pain(less/ful) it was.
