For me, I only ever watched it for Hawkeye/Alan Alda.
Never thought it was particularly “funny”, and I was far too young to recognize/appreciate any “war is hell” statement-making going on.
I just always liked watching/hearing Alan Alda. He’s one of those “warm blanket” figures for me, his mannerisms and voice. I’ll watch him in anything. Beyond that, I can’t answer for anyone else re: the show itself.
