Not surprising at all. If it hadn’t been the government, it would likely have been the Supreme Court anyway. Better for the government to get ahead of that than have a virtual free for all before legislators can draft proper laws.
Question is, of those 31k, how many were terminally I’ll patients who would have died anyway? I’ve not found a source (real data from a apolitical source) that gives numbers of that type, likely due to privacy laws.
