So, I found a Pumpkin Patch - right by the spawn. Hopefully no-one had plans for it... There was a weird wooden monument thing there but little else. Anyway, I don't need as many pumpkins as I harvested, so let me know if you need some.
Do they grow spontaneously? It just seems weird that one would be so close to the spawn without being harvested long ago.
