I think it's stupid, but if it means no duplicates on your HD, it's good.

As far as business wise, if there was a way to make a variable date in the title of that folder, it would be a wonderful tool for the photography studio I work at.

We burn the users originals in tif, jpg, and raw, twice. Then we turn their retouched images to cd later.

Needless to say I go through a lot of CD's, and while this isn't the ultimate feature, it would be handy.
