At least you didn't ruin any GOOD computers. From what I've heard, the 4400/7220 was a real POS. Never used one myself but I do remember that they came in a really ugly metal case with an unconventional location for the floppy drive, and they used different RAM from most computers at the time so RAM upgrades were expensive.
Come to think of it, my brother's and my adventures in modding did end up wrecking one Apple ADB mouse and keyboard, and we did make a Mac SE pretty damn ugly (a few layers of paint there).
