Makes sense to me. However, you might watch #7 and learn absolutely nothing until you also watch Episode IX immediately afterword. Is it possible that one does not make sense without the other?
Or, how about this:
What if the adventures of Mando and Force McFrog lead them to Endor (or wherever those Death star bits are at) and their random exploration/escaping lead them to Force McFrog using his little force powers to move some random thing that releases Palpatine from some captive space, physical, metaphysical, or other?
Something like that would drive zillions of fans into theaters!
