i actually had a very similar thread open a couple weeks ago. I was looking long and hard at the acer aspire one. I really think that is the way to go. lower prices than the competition with similar, if not better specs. the one that really stood out to me was the version that had the atom processor, 1 gb of ram, 8.9 in screen, and get this, 120 gb hard drive with windows xp. I think it was 450. not sure how you feel about acer, but that's the way i was going to go. good luck
