I agree, it is a weird price, and I know that it was calculated to hit a certain margin. I get the feeling that $299 was floating around, but Cook said "margins too slim, we need to hit 30%."

Still, it's just $30. Isn't gonna stop anyone who was already waiting for one, and Apple knows it.
