So in the end I've started using
Z-Wave. Right now I have a number of things controlled by it though no where near the amount I have planned. I even found where you can put a
film on your windows that can go from clear to opaque with Z-Wave!
Right now I can do things like control lights and my thermostat. I will be adding more as I go along. This is one of the most fun hobbies I've had in a while too!
