I'm pretty sure I read that Toy Story 3 was canned pretty much the second Lasseter walked into Disney as their mucho importante hombre.
Anyway, Pixar's teasers and trailer have always been really meh in my opinion, but the films themselves have been anywhere between great and amazing. Such it is with Cars I suspect.
