Recent upgrade to the home setup!

The MacBook Pro 15 is an early 2011 quad-core i7 Thunderbolt model, with a 250GB, 1st-generation Apple SSD and 8 GB of RAM. Usually it stays in my backpack and I only use it outside the house.

The iMac 24 is a mid 2007 Core 2 Duo with an internal 115GB 3G OWC SSD, 6 GB of RAM, and 3 external FW800 drives with 5TB total (1 TB is used for my home folder, and the OS and apps only use 30 GB on the SSD). Wireless Apple Keyboard and wireless LogiTech trackball.

The iMac and its external drives are set up on what is meant to be a laptop computer workstation cart.

I reversed the work surfaces when assembling it so that the weight-bearing part over the long base support arm would be the lower and smaller work surface instead of the larger one as designed. Then I triple-velcroed the iMac base to the cart for extra stability, and velcroed a black power strip to the center post of the cart.

The power strip plugs into an APC battery backup under the end table. When I want my living room to be less geeky, I just shut down the iMac, unplug the power strip, and roll the whole thing out of the living room and into the spare bedroom.
