Yeah, I wouldn't use a cloud service either.
In fact, I block my cameras from accessing the internet alltogether. I set up a VLAN (unnecessary) for them and use a NAS to capture/archive footage. It rotates through files based on available storage. I used to use the FTP option, but truth be told I forgot I even had it set up years ago and just cleared gigs of space reading this thread.
