When you sneeze you produce microdroplets/aerosols that can be dispersed on the air a great distance. Same with coughing. Or vomiting <-- this is how certain stomach viruses can pass through an entire restaurant when there's a sick customer.

The virus also displays an unusual (for viruses) longevity on surfaces.
