I was on mastodon.social for years, but got prodded by many to eventually move. There are instances that mute mastodon.social, such as because they consider it under-moderated.

I migrated to norden.social, which is local (northern Germany) and seems to be well-run. All followers were automatically migrated; confusingly, follows weren't. (Apparently, there's an export/import feature to work around that, but the UI didn't make this clear at all.) Posts aren't migrated, but still exist in dormant form on the old account.

It's… less than ideal, but not too terrible.
