Okay, Cogarret, one thing you might find useful if you want to quickly find a specific photo in the iPhoto library in the Finder is this: open iPhoto and choose to show the information pane (click the little "i" in the circle at the bottom left). Now, when you select a photo in your library, it will tell you the date the photo was taken and its filename. You can then quickly navigate to this date in the Finder.
