It's been a few years since my college days
but I will say that the corporate world, or at least marketing, has become unanimously reliant on PDFs. I haven't received or had to convert to an Office format in quite some time. So in my case, I love using iWork and simply export to PDF. People can markup and make changes and all formatting is retained. Leopard looks like it will further improve PDF handling, so it will only get easier.
