New products don't have the i prefix any more. The Apple brand is huge enough of its own now. It's Photos rather than not iPhoto, Apple Music rather than iMusic, Apple Watch rather than iWatch. Had the iPad been introduced a few years later, it'd probably be the Apple Pad/Tablet/Slate.
(Heck, it's possibly Apple Slate was an intended name, which would explain the slate rumors.)

There's precedent for Apple reusing brands for different products, though I can only think of the rather obscure Cocoa example right now. (Cocoa was originally an app for kids.)
