I've loved this movie for over 20 years now, and watch it several times throughout the Christmas season. I was sad to hear this.

Even sadder because his 22-year-old son was with him and also died,
and the cause of the crash was a guy driving drunk (and with no driver's license).
He survived, of course. Don't they always?
