That really depends on your privacy stance. Most of the reboot vacuums scan your space to map it and send those maps back to HQ. Those are reported to do a great job of cleaning up your floors and keeping them clean.

The alternative is to get a dumb "bump and go" one that will literally go until it hits a wall or thinks it is going to fall down stairs and then turn at a random angle and go forward again.

I've got one of those and it generally does a good job of keeping my floors cleared. Occasionally I'll come in an find it stuck under a chair or something like that. If you keep the charging base in a good spot you should be safe.
