The height and depth updates were the things I was most excited about as well, but so it goes.
There are
experimental snapshots out now for 1.18 that allow for some adventure in the new mountains and the dark depths – I haven't played in it yet but plan to test it out this weekend.
It's true about the copper in 1.17... everywhere!! And since Fortune now affects the new ore drops you can get a bit more cooked ingots per block, which is nice. I also
really like deepslate. A lot.
The more I see screenshots of the terrain changes in 1.8 the more I'm warming to the idea of an Overworld restart. Maybe even the End, since the main island is probably due for some fresh new ideas. But please not the Nether. I never want to build another hanging walkway again as long as MC exists.
