Well, "on the ground floor" is very relative since the game has been available in some form for a year and a half and is nearing a million paid users.
I'm not so surprised by same-day bugfixes. What I am surprised by is the lack of QA
before releasing code to such a wide audience that
needs same-day bugfixes.
And I say this as a software developer who knows all about the planning, development, QA, acceptance, staging, deployment, and release processes.
