It wouldn't steal iPhone's thunder, since one is a dedicated music player and is more of a "now" product, while the iPhone has the convenience-factor of being multiple devices and is a more expensive item.

I think Apple would like to get the 6th G iPod out ASAP, because if nothing else, it would bring in tons of money and probably help to lower the cost of future iPhones.
