Yes.
Since yesterday was not the 21st. of March nor the 21st. of September, the geosynchronous orbit (which is straight above the equator) was inclined (a few degrees) with the orbit of the moon at the moment of the eclipse.
For that simple reason it can't be a geo-synchronous sattelite.
