I doubt that is true. I fully expect a 24” iMac, and possibly the entire iMac line up to switch to Apple silicon this October with a new industrial design that is inspired by the iPad Pro. I also think the MacBook Pro 13” will be updated with Apple silicon.
This is similar to the Intel transition when Apple released the iMac G5 iSight 3 months before release the iMac Intel core 2 duo.
Similar to the Intel transition I think Apple plans to transition as soon as possible and ahead of their projected schedule but is being conservative, particularly for some models like the Mac Pro.
