The first app screen is what I see when I press the digital crown once. I have to scroll the crown to see the zoomed out version. Maybe it's a setting I changed and didn't realize it. Mine has always been like this though. I just checked Mrs T's and her's is the same as mine.

I agree about having to push the crown twice though. I end up just turning my wrist away and giving a few seconds before looking at the face again. My watch is configured to return to watch face on wrist raise. Normally the apps I'm looking at have the time in them too so it's not like I would need to know the time when I go to exit the app.
