The screen is the weakest point indeed. It can be addressed by using an external one at the desk - since you said you don't plan to travel much. The 15" PB:s screen is nice but I thought it, too, had too little resolution for comfortable Photoshopping. I would setup a minimum of 19" CRT, even if you have the PB.

When you used the iBook, did you actually notice lack of power or are you just guessing?

Regarding the hard drive space, you could use a Firewire hard drive. There are limits to what a laptop HD will hold, and when you get to the bigger laptop HD's you are paying a lot for what is puny space in desktop terms. Again, I'd do this even if I had the Powerbook. A 160GB external disk could take a 1:1 copy of a 60GB laptop drive for backup, and still have the kind of space left over that you asked for. I daresay you don't really need over 60GB on the road.

Anyway, if you're opposed to the iBook then how about a dual 1.8GHz Powermac, Radeon 9600, 512MB memory? The initial display can be a $200 19" CRT. This way you'll have all the power and expandability in your hands, right away. New Powermacs or price drops are likely to surface soon as well.
