I wonder if you could kill it in Activity Monitor (or at least see if its non-responsive) and then resume by uncheck/recheck in prefs. I see a 'cloudd' process running in my Activity Monitor that's probably it. Some of those little bastards restart all by themselves after being killed so you might not even have to toggle the check box.
