To be honest, I have my doubt that McCain is all what he claims to be. A case in point: He went against his own bill which passed- McCain-Feingold act by breaking the spending cap as he had applied for public funding. Now, he didn't actually use any, and therefore claimed that he could withdraw. That's fine, as Dean did the same thing, except that he did get a letter from FEC chairman saying that they had to get approval from the FEC. You see, unlike Dean, McCain took out two loans using the promise of public financing as collateral and because of this, FEC committee wanted to review the matters before giving him OK to bailout (and thus spend as much as he may). He didn't bother to wait around or ensure that there would be a quorum for FEC approval and went over the spending cap. At least Dean made sure he got the OK before proceeding so. The punishment is five years of imprisonment and heavy fines. Now it can be argued that it's no big deal because he didn't actually use any actual funding. Fine, but he got ballot access to some states by bypassing the petitioning and just demonstrating that he had public financing. Never bothered to petition just in case.

All in all, this paint a picture of man who likes to talk big but will squirm out of any sticky situation. In short, he's just another politician.
