Their chances improve if they're not dumbasses (the train guys...ignoring/driving around the warning gate, walking on active tracks at 5am).

The manure fumes one is sad...they were actually working and being productive when they died. Sounds like those fumes are some horrible, dangerous stuff for it to get all three so quickly. No one managed to realize what was happening and tried to get out, so it must've really come on hard and strong and overwhelmed all three in a very short time.

I wonder what he thought was going to happen? Was he trying to take himself out or just wanting to escape the police and he made a stupid move? As a rule of thumb, I don't go around any big electrical stuff like that. There are fences - and big signage - around them for a reason. Serious stuff. I have one of those things near me and I drive by it 1-2 times a week. I've yet to be tempted to pull over, climb the fencing and see what I can get into.

But, yes...it appears to be just a run-of-the-mill nimrod. The story doesn't make it sound like he was doing any kind of "challenge" fad or attention-whoring Look At Me!™ stupidity for TikTwitFaceGram (The TikTok "Electrocute Yourself!" Challenge, which, if it existed, would surely have participants).

But hey...did he at least die doing what he loved? We may never know on this one...he's probably half-disintegrated.

This is my favorite Excuse-o-Matic™ reason for dying under the influence of stupidity. "Well, he died doing what he loved!" It's just lame. How did he actually die? Well, let's see, he threw himself off a bridge and sky-suited into a rock. But, hey, who am I to judge a man's desire to sky-suit into rocks?

On a completely separate note, I see where Bob Dylan might be soon receiving the Weinstein/Cosby treatment.

It seems he's being accused/sued for allegedly "grooming"/sexually assaulting a 12-year-old in 1965.

And if it all goes sideways for Mr. Zimmerman...yikes. I can see a bunch of the Whole Foods/NPR crowd - old white erstwhile hippies - committing seppuku next to their Subaru* if the Voice of their Generation™ turns out to be a poetically-gifted kid diddler.

Because if they'll cancel Bob Dylan, ain't nobody safe!

Weinstein surprised nobody (who can't imagine that fat cretin chasing Gwyneth Paltrow around a L.A. hotel suite with his cock out). But Bill Cosby, and now Bob Dylan? Quite a pop culture blow, huh? Who's next, Mr. Rogers?

*I wasn't trying to rhyme or do anything clever, but damned if I didn't...seppuku beside the Subaru. Speak-sing it in your best Dylan voice and tell me I'm wrong.

Yeah, it's an odd story. And a very long time...56 years.

Who knows. But I support whatever the truth is. If she's lying/making stuff up, she'll have to answer for that. But if he's guilty of what she says, then I'm not so goo-goo-eyed over some past-his-prime "voice of a generation" famous musician that I'm going to automatically/blindly back and defend him either. I'm only interested in the truth/facts here, and however they play out is how they play out.

I do think this woman might've had a better shot had she maybe said something 45-50 years ago...

Unless she has an ace up her sleeve in the form of some sort of undeniable, irrefutable proof, I truly fail to see how, five-plus decades later, mere say-so can be enough. Doesn't seem right. Because if she had said undeniable, irrefutable proof, why did she choose to sit on it for so long? Was she, first and foremost, a "fan" and (foolishly) felt that she "owed" him a career?

"I simply can't rob the world of this man's gifts - he's an Important Artist™, after all - but once he's old and no longer making any real impact, then I'll come forward".

Her reasons are hers, I guess. People do all kinds of crazy shit for crazy reasons. Nothing surprises me anymore. Let's be blunt...if a suburban housewife who came up in the 80's is willing to risk her marriage to give Bret Michaels a hummer at the state fair where Poison is headlining, then you gotta figure some of those 60's hyper-earnest folkie/hippie types thought Bob Dylan absolutely hung the moon, and represented the end-all/be-all of musicdom.

Actually, she has her best shot when the political landscape is ripe for finger-pointing/canceling. At this point, the only thing anyone has to go on is he-said/she-said, and the current political landscape skews heavily toward she-said. Dylan is screwed—even if nothing ever happened—because all of the appropriate political believers will be on her side. He has to play defense, and no one will believe him.

I wasn't there, so I don't know. And that makes it that much more important that absolute *proof* be presented. I will not take either of their words for it, otherwise.

Yeah, same. If he truly didn't do it, he's still got an uphill battle because now, apparently, we're supposed to Believe All Women, no matter what, etc. And it doesn't even take a trial or formal conviction at this point. Just the mere say-so is enough to take someone's career, family, friends and reputation. He doesn't even have to go to prison to have his entire life/world turned upside-down, possibly just on spec. So, yeah...ol' Bob's career might be winding down a little sooner, and under lousier circumstances, than he ever planned.

But I'm sorry...56-years-old say-so is a tough one for me to latch onto. I can't fully, comfortably throw in with her either.

If he did it, and it's proven somehow, then yeah...he deserves all the grief and fallout that comes his way. I have no pity/sympathy/defense for kid diddlers and sexual predators, I don't care how famous or beloved they are. But how do/will anyone ever know, because it truly boils down to two people saying the opposite thing after nearly 60 years. Shit, I can't remember stuff I said/did 10 years ago (but I didn't assault or harass anyone, I do know that).

Utah man dies after falling 50 feet from amusement park's sky ride.

EDIT: upon seeing additional pics of the design, it is more of a chairlift, vs. enclosed pod/car, rendering everything I asked/wondered about moot ("how the hell do you fall out of an enclosed, walled pod/car thing with bars/railing?!", etc.).

He could've slipped out of the T-bar pull-down somehow?

Local story with pics of the actual ride.

Hmmm …

I've ridden on that thing, and, unless the bar malfunctioned, the only way out is to climb out. Something tells me there's going to be a selfie discovered showing just that.

Edit: In fact, if you do a quick Google for "Lagoon Sky Ride" and look at the images, you will find multiple photos of the dude hanging from the ride's upper safety bar with the bar clearly in place. I smell a rat in this, and that rat tells me the guy climbed or slithered his way out for a photo opportunity, or for hijinks. How else are you going to get into that position in any manner not involving intent? If he slipped out the bottom, he would most likely be facing the other way and hanging from the lower bar. Thus, to be hanging from the upper bar while facing the pod would require going over the top of the bar, or some very clever gymnastics going beneath the lower bar.

I call bullshit!

Yeah. I never saw pics of the actual incident.

EDIT: Okay, now I have. Yeah, I think he was horsing around and it went sideways. I don't see how you fall out of such a thing "accidentally". I've been on a ton of these things in my life and I'd have to put in some effort to get out of that chair, mid-ride. I saw two video clips. There was no panic or yelling, or struggle to get back up, etc. Nobody goes to an amusement park to off themselves, do they? So maybe he was horsing around and figured he could've held on until it got lower? He seemed pretty calm for someone in that situation, so maybe he was just saving his strength, focusing on his grip and waiting for the ride to start dropping back down to the area where people get on and off (at which point he would've been tossed from the park and probably hit with a lifetime ban).

Either way, it was going to be his last time on this ride.

Here's something else to consider: that he was alone is odd (again, does anyone go to an amusement park by themselves? I've never seen it). If he wasn't doing the filming/selfie/social media thing, makes me wonder if his friends were on the ground, filming up at him from below for their viral 15 minutes of TikTok "fame"?

And when he fell, did a small group of people around his age and dressed similarly suddenly, and quietly, exit the park. "Oh shiiiiit...time to go!" Hate to think your friends would bail in that scenario, but they probably thought of all the trouble they might be in for?

What sucks in those pics are the kids who were in the other chairs (and down below), who had to witness this fool's plummet to earth. 50 feet is guaranteed to make an awful sound (a splat/thud or the sound of bones snapping), and possibly even a bit of bloodshed, depending on how/where he landed.

I can't believe we don't have a dedicated Darwin Award thread with all this kind of stuff corralled together.

It's a miracle those seven thieves - especially since they posed for pictures with their stolen loot (touching back to the whole selfie/"look at me!" idiocy of many) - weren't hunted down by the people they stole from and slaughtered/made examples of.

Did none of these clowns see No Country for Old Men or even a few episodes of Law & Order (or Miami Vice?!

Drug kingpins/cartels tend to have a problem with people taking their money, and I don't think they're all that big on the whole "forgive-and-forget" thing.

A good way to wake up one morning without your head attached.

Isn't that the only reason that site/service exists, "explicit material"? Or are people going there for recipes and arts-and-crafts tutorials?

Because, according to numerous "news" stories I've read the past year, thanks to COVID, OnlyFans is the only way some women can earn money/make a living (utter horseshit, of course, but never let anything get in the way of a good Empowered Woman Owning Her Sexuality/Showing Her Cooter to the World story).

What's next, Pornhub no longer showing amateur MILF swinger vids? Asian cheerleader gangbangs? Teen BBC bukkake?

What's the world coming to?!?

Alabama man shot by wife's boyfriend...who was secretly living in their home.

Okay, first off...that this didn't take place in Florida is the most shocking aspect to the story.

Seems two guys - the homeowner/husband and the secret live-in boyfriend got into a shootout, striking each other. That'll happen in such a scenario.

"So who's this other guy you're banging?"

"Well, he's down the hall, in the spare bedroom. Wanna meet him?"

At this point, gunplay is a given.

Quote:
During the investigation, MCSO detectives discovered that the homeowner’s wife, Tracy Reeves, alerted her husband that an intruder was inside their home.

It was later discovered that Tracy knew the intruder and had been having a relationship with him for over a year.
I believe this is what is colloquially referred to as a "devious, lying-ass bitch"?

The secret, live-in boyfriend must've really messed up to make her rat him out as an intruder (and hoped hubby plugged him and was never wise to the situation).

Quote:
Tracy was also allowing Amacker to live inside the home, providing him food, and more.
Yeah, I bet "more"...

Trying my hardest to find a photo of this Tracy Reeves, to maybe put all the above into some sort of perspective (as in "hell, I'd secretly live there too, and risk a bullet, for a shot at that Jessica Alba lookalike contest winner!", or "sweet holy hell, how are either of these guys putting it to this lagoon creature?!?").

UPDATE: It's more of the latter, I'm afraid. Good grief, the spell some guys fall under with the promise of some easy, no-strings cooter.

Another article says Mrs. Reeves was "high on meth" when the shootout occurred, which pretty much says all you need to know about everything.

All silliness aside, how in the hell does someone live in your house and you don't know about it? The story doesn't make it clear how long he'd be living there (but that he was seeing the wife on the side for a year). Unless the husband is a long-haul trucker and is gone for weeks at a time, and only comes home to sleep, get some more clothes, eat a meal or two and then hit the road again, how does he not know a third person is living in his house? If you lived in the Biltmore House, okay...I get it. That might be tough to know what someone's up to a quarter mile down the hallway, in the north wing. But a regular, non-mansion house?! That's one out-of-touch, unaware husband.

That's very ballsy. Or desperate.

At any time, the live-in boyfriend could've sneezed in the middle of the night - or was a sleepwalker or otherwise accidentally made his presence known - and the gunplay would've occurred much sooner.

I couldn't be "invisible" in someone's house. Get up to pee in the middle of the night and flush the toilet down the hall? Anything that makes noise that can't be accounted for? That this secret live-in guy was able to stay off the radar is pretty amazing. My place isn't big, but I know every square inch and every sound. I'd have to be in a pretty large home to not realize "there's someone here who isn't me or my wife...and I'm not sure I believe in all that ghost/haunting horseshit."

I have to believe the hubby works a job that requires a good bit of travel and he's rarely home? Or he's some level/combination of blind and/or deaf (in which case, he probably shouldn't be owning/using a firearm).

Someone could definitely live in my parent's house without their knowing (all but one bedroom has ensuites and they are still working well past retirement age), so I imagined that this was a large-ish family home, and the photos seem to bear witness to this. I can imagine a housewife with her hobby corner that the schlub of a husband doesn't go near because housework is beneath him being able to squirrel away a methed out boyfriend. Or he was in the attic. Either way, Alabama was always a florida to me...

I wish that story had some more details because I'd like to know those very things, how they pulled it off. If he stayed in a part of the house where the husband just never went to (wife's craft (meth) room, her she (meth) shed, her media (meth) room, her Twilight/General Hospital/Real Housewives of New Jersey (meth) shrine, etc.).

if that's 20-30 feet down a hallway hubby never goes, in addition to being gone a lot or simply not all that interested in anything taking place in his house/property (and/or he's deaf/hard of hearing), sure...I guess they could pull it off. They did for a while until the wife sold him out.

"There's an intruder in the house! And by 'intruder' I mean the guy I've been boning for a year...go shoot him, baby! I don't like him no more...".

It's a small miracle her cheating, lying and manipulative ass didn't get shot by one, or both, of the guys. Could've been one of those big triple shooting/Mexican standoff/murder-suicide scenarios Lifetime makes movies about...House Guest of Death, Danger in the Spare Bedroom, The Side-Dick Down the Hall.

Well, the husband is going to go home a free man. As a resident of the home, and having been told there was an intruder in the home, and then having been shot in the chest (clearly an attempt to murder), he clearly acted in self defense. If he lives, he is 100% in the right on this one—judging from the facts that are available to us.

Now, were I the prosecutors, I would also be seeking charges against the wife. She knew the dude and was having a relationship with him. Anyone paying attention knows the husband came home unexpectedly and the wife didn't want to get caught cheating. So, she "cried rape" so the husband wouldn't get wise. The husband then defended his wife from the intruder. However, her knowledge that the intruder was actually her boyfriend means she set him up to get shot. I would be pressing attempted murder charges against her as well.

What kind of clown outfit are we running here, anyway?

Rolling Stones drummer, Charlie Watts, has died at 80.

This is most likely the end of the Rolling Stones. Keith Richards has said many times that Charlie is the soul of the band and the "glue", and that if he's not in the band, he doesn't want to be either. That could all be rock star hyperbole and interview/book soundbites, but we'll see.

They've had two losses/departures before (Brian Jones died in 1969 and Bill Wyman left the band in 1992) and they soldiered on with Mick Taylor/Ron Wood and Darryl Jones, but I don't know. This could be the one that causes them to hang it up. One of the only three originals left.

As we all know, Keith isn't ever going to die, so I guess it's up to Mick.

RIP. A lot of my drummer friends say Watts is the man...tight, solid, swings, etc. He always looked cool, especially in later years...somebody's grandpa still rocking-and-rolling.

UPDATE: Looks like they'll be going on for a bit longer. Steve Jordan, who Richards has worked with over the years (that Chuck Berry movie and in his solo band, the X-Pensive Winos), who was already slated to fill in for Watts on an upcoming 13-date US tour.

So, for the time being, the Stones will be three old British coots, anchored by two younger Americans holding down the rhythm section.

Sucks that he passed away. But at some point, you gotta hang it up. The Rolling Stones, as a band, have been coasting on their laurels for decades. Can't think of anything new, and relevant, that they've made in the past 30+ years. It's all "buy a new yacht/vacation home in Nice/pay off random mistress" stuff...Their "tours" are basically cash grabs senile folks and/or unwitting younger people who don't know any better, often both.

They're the Harrison Ford of music.

Yeah, they peaked ages ago and it’s hard to get excited about anything since Tattoo You, but what great songs over many, many years.

I saw them once, in Nashville (Vanderbilt Stadium), back in October of 1997 (Bridges to Babylon tour). Sheryl Crow opened and it was a great night all around. But that was enough. I’m not a fan of big “spectacle” stadium/arena type concerts (but that’s really the only option with them). A solid show but stuff like that is too expensive to ever do on the regular, But I’m glad I got to see them once, just because.

I've seen them 2 or 3 times. I don't often reach for their records, but the last time I saw them play I realized that I like the Stones a lot more than I realized.
