Hey all.

So my dad bought an Apple TV at the weekend and has found out he doesn't have either a HDMI or Component cable on his 15 year old 42" Sony Projection TV.

I was wondering if anyone else found out the same thing the hard way () and found a cheap solution?

Component to SCART seems the best way, but I've yet to find an adapter that'll take in the 5x cables that come out of the Apple TV.

Thanks for any advice,

Steve.

You can make a component to SCART adaptor.
Or, rather, SCART supports an RGB signal, which (AFAIR) is the same as 3-plug component, which is what the TV has. Remember it's only 3 cables, not 5 as you say. The two extra are for stereo sound.
So it's quite possible. If the TV supports it.
EDIT: Checked Wikipedia and it may or may not be the same signal but in any case the pins are the same. So it could work. Theoretically. If you can find/make an adaptor. And the TV supports it.
EDIT2: It's available.

Or he could just spend the dosh for a new 42" plasma which will (literally) blow his socks off.

Converted 07/2005.
