Hi all,
I'm in the UK and thinking about buying a mac mini, but I want a non-standard spec (eg airport extreme etc) and my local reseller is saying it will take 2-3 weeks. The Apple website says 7 days (taking the additional specs into account).

Any experiences of the accuracy of Apple's shipping estimates (esp in the UK) would be great...

Cheers,
Claire

Can you get a custom build from Regent Street in the same day?

Ooh, I don't know - I hadn't thought of that. Will investigate, thanks

Have found Apple Uk website leadtimes generally spot on - though popping down to Regent Street (Bluewater?) would be quicker if they have it in stock

So some larger resellers/Apple stores might stock non-standard spec Minis then?

The only reason I'm concerned about the timing is because it's for a birthday present and I don't think I can get what I want, in time

I wasn't thinking that they might stock non standard mini's. But they will probably have a supply of components; HD's, RAM etc. You could buy the Mini, RAM etc and have them fitted while you were there!

The price might not be quite as low as a BTO system, but you get the pleasure of instant retail therapy!

OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available!
