So my dad bought our family a new 20" iMac to replace our sunflower iMac 800 for Christmas. And already I'm dreading hauling it to the closest Genius Bar presumably to have a faulty screen inverter swapped out. The problem is that it's started buzzing. I can make the buzzing (electrical-sounding) go away by dimming the display all the way and up to one "square," but it returns again when the brightness is brightened to midrange. The sound will also gradually fade when the brightness is raised and fades away completely at two squares from full brightness.
My question is whether anyone here has experienced this problem before, and is the screen inverter mentioned in this thread most probably the faulty component. Thanks for any and all help! |
