How well will tiger run. I've got 512 megs of RAM on mine... it's already got panther on it. How limited will OSX's capabilities be>

I plan on installing Tiger on my brothers 400Mhz B&W G3.

Tiger should be a little faster just like Panther was a little faster. That is the plans anyways. Of course there will be some features that aren't as fast, and you probably won't be able to use CoreImage.

i'd guess if it can run 10.3 it would be able to run 10.4, although does your machine have a DVD drive? i thought it was only going to be distributed in DVD format unless you make a special request. (for our xserves at our school for example that only have CD drives)

I have a 500 MHz iMac with 640 megs of RAM. It has a CD-RW drive, although I think that the 500 MHz iMacs shipped with either CD-RW or DVD (not combo) drives, depending on what you ordered. That computer definitely won't be able to use CoreImage. It can't even use Quartz Extreme. Everything else should run OK though, although Dashboard might drop a few frames coming in, like Expose on such a low-end computer.
