so ever since they announced the intel chip, i've postponed my plans on purchasing a nice 20" iMac g5.

so instead i upgraded my Sawtooth G4 500 w/ a new vid card (ATI w/ 128mb) and a brand new display. so far i've spend about $400. thinking of upgrading my processor. i'm looking at the OWC Mercury Extreme G4 @ 1.2ghz for $289.

i've never upgrade a processor b4...so i need some advice. anyone have good experience w/ this product or can you recommend something comparable?

thanks in advance

I've used a very similar processor upgrade and I was very happy with it. The instructions are very well written. Oh, and make sure you upgrade your firmware before you pull out the processor and install the new one, otherwise you have to go through the hassle of pulling the new processor, installing the old one to do the update, and then reinstalling the new one. But yeah, you seem to be comfortable working inside your machine (having replaced your video card), so go for it!

The sawtooth is just plain easy to upgrade. The processor upgrade will completely transform your computer as long as you have adequate RAM.
