How can I setup a dual display with my iBook and monitor. I want to have it as an extended monitor. Have both displays different. Right now I have them as the same.

I could do this on a PC, I don't see an option in Preferences on OS X.

14" Apple iBook 1.42ghz, 1gb RAM, 160gb 7200rpm HDD. 2ghz AMD Athlon 64 3200+.

Officially, you can only have 1024x768 and mirrored video.

Unofficially, download this and run it once, and you get full video settings.

It is not perfect. As of late (10.4->) video apps seem to run out of VRAM pretty easily. For fullscreen viewing I have to change external screen resolution down temporarily.

Thankyou so much. Now I can play World of WarCrack in my monitor and iChat in the other.

Do you perhaps have the newest model iBook with Radeon 9550? I have the January model with 9200 and while I occasionally switch WoW in window to check something from web, it's far too slow to keep on for any length of time. I basically only do this while running long distances from place to place.

I have the newest version of the 14" Apple iBook. Works great in windowed mode, actually I am playing WoW now and check my email and this thread. I didn't notice any lag.
