Could it be your USB hub?

Try booting from your system disk and running disk utility and see if the HD shows any errors of any kind. These can sometimes causes unwanted problems.
Also have you added any extra memory? |

Its happening again.
3 times today, after I had a move round, but it could be anything - the screen, the monitor, the keyboard or the mouse....or even the new speakers. I just don't know, and I'm quite fed up now. I would post a crash report but OSX hasn't even bothered producing one this time, and so I can't even report it to Apple. The three times it crashed today: 2 times whilst watching DVD's. 1 time whilst using Photoshop. Yes there is 1 gig of RAM added (third party). |

Try doing a hardware test?

Hardware Test (Extended) came back fine. I'm thinking its either the monitor, keyboard (macally with the USB hub) or the speakers (but how?!)

So three of the times it has happened, I have been watching a video in VLC - I specifically remember this happening before (whilst watching a video), and another time it happened, I was using Photoshop.
Grr...surely there must be some corrolation. I have done loads of RAM tests and they are all coming back fine...so what could it be? |

VLC= Extremely unstable. It crashes almost every time I watch a video.

Have you tried to isolate one RAM stick from the other? (Assuming you have two sticks.) RAM was my issue a while back and it never showed on the HW tests.

I have taken out a gig of RAM (the generic gig -shit) and I am left with 512MB and it doesnt seem much slower.... Fucking asswipes on ebay shops- Im gonna get a refund.
Can anyone help me get a refund on it, cos its going to be hard to prove its faulty... (I haven't had any kernel panics since by the way. |

December 13th.
So quite a while. But if they are a shop (they have 25,000) on ebay, they must have to have certain rules. They also have a contact number on their non-ebay site, so I'm gonna try that if I don't get any luck on eBay. I'm gonna be reasonable with them, and I have tried everything to test it, as you can see above! |

See if you have any more KPs before getting to strong in your communications with them. I would have to believe it is the RAM though. I'm sure they'll swap sticks with you and just RMA the one you have now, that is up to them though. You should, however, expect them to do a swap.

It's pretty hard to get a refund after a month even at the most reputable brick and mortar places. But you can often still get an exchange.

Seconded - Apple's Extended HW Tests do *not* fully exercise the RAM - there was an OS9 tool called Gauge Pro that was good at uncovering bad RAM, but of course it won't run on Intel machines at all, more's the pity.
