A new way to watch the Star Wars Saga

This is the order: IV, V, II, III, VI

Episode I is completely thrown out. Reading the dude's thought's, it actually makes complete sense.

I really like this. Going to do this to my fiance and see what she thinks. I think it will set up the story better and make it more interesting in seeing it go back and forth through the series.

Ooh, I like it. Makes some sense, actually. There's nothing in Episode I that I'd truly ever miss. And with Maul, Qui-Gon and others killed, reduced in role, etc., there's very little useful, needed carryover from this one to the others.

You could indeed start with Episode II, as flawed and silly as it is, and actually have things flow and streamline a good bit more.

Good article.

Of course, I've seen all this crap so many times over 35(!) years, I'll never get that "first time again" feel. But I can pass it on to any young whippersnappers I know (or might create)...

That's a brilliant way of doing it. I'm tempted to run it that way at the next floor movie night. I do love Qui-Gon, but he's right that the rest of TPM is more confusing and less important to how everything plays out, and therefore skippable.

This bizarre workaround is yet one more reason to be sad that George fucked the epic up so very, very badly.

How about:

4, 5, and 6?

Or more correctly:

Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi

Even better.

I don't really need to know the "how he came to be" story, I've realized. Hell, until 1999 I was totally fine not knowing/caring.

Almost wish I could "unsee" the prequels at this point.

I watched "Empire" about 10 days ago, as I was sick and "trapped" here. To this day, 32 years on, that movie winds me up.

Just about perfect...

Yes, Star Wars and Empire are the best. By the time Return came out, Lucas had turned the movies into more franchise than movie. What they heck, it employed a lot of people, but I don't like watching a movie and constantly thinking what angle they used to sell what item....

Thanks kieran - good read.

I took my nephews to see TPM In 3D the other week and it sort of made me sad.

I'm going to follow this order when my girl and other nieces and nephews want to know about the SW saga. It's sure to be better than the release and chronological order.
