Whatever his business strategy, Jobs is certain to have an impact. Recently, he told two associates, who asked not to be identified to avoid damaging their relationship with him, that he was more excited about his current project than he was about the Macintosh.

If that's true, this event is certain to be very exciting and would lend itself to justification for the Apple.com graphic. Considering that Apple simply added a brighter screen, better battery, gapeless playback, and a lower price on the last iPod, it wouldn't be hard to see Apple just giving us a nicely designed by rather standard cell phone (if they even plan to). Maybe they have something way more advanced and "earth shattering" planned?

They have an entire division dedicated to the iPod, afterall...

Maybe Apple is going to deliver a product that not even we could dream up, in all of this pre-keynote absurdity.

Industry executives and competitors say that Apple has developed the first of the next generation of devices that are closer to personal computers in pocket form, meaning that they will easily handle music, entertainment, productivity tasks and communications on cellular and other wireless networks.

"Apple is about to touch off a nuclear war," said Paul Mercer, a software designer and president of Iventor, a designer of software for hand-helds based in Palo Alto, California. "The Nokias and the Motorolas will have to respond."

That shift may well be underscored on Tuesday when Steven Jobs, the chief executive of Apple Computer, is expected to unveil an Apple phone representing his company's new mobile communications strategy — highlighted by a device that may include Jobs-inspired refinements like a sleek ceramic case and a transparent touch screen.

This thing is just one big Cisco/Linksys iPhone mixup. Tomorrow will be a disaster for those of us who own stock in apple. Tomorrow's products will be video related. NO Phone! could be the day for the true video iPod with touch screen 100gig. If those phones were in production it would have leaked... FCC, Manufacturing etc. Look for 6-12 month preview or nothing at all. Don't be disappointed!

Interesting tidbit from MacRumors (with a video)

Forum member, applemax, had spotted something interesting at an Apple store in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It appears to be a stand for some sort of iPod device:

On holiday, I went into an Apple Store (today), and, you know in mobile phone shops, they have those little podiums where the phones are on the top where you can use them, etc...? Well, there was one in the store. The podium was white, which was lit up internally. On the top it had a wire with the plug at the end, which I assume was for keeping the phone's battery full all day. The plug was a dock connector of abnormal length and width (It was around the width of an iPod shuffle, and the length of about 4cm with a curved bottom/end like the iPod Shuffle 1G bottom) but had no logo on the front of it. The gap on the podium which would house the iPhone was shaped as an iPod nano but about a cm taller.

This is simply untrue. Steve was unhappy about not having enough time to get the Mac to where he wanted it to be. But make no mistake, it was a project that he poured his soul into.
