Probably the most dominant team in all of collegiate athletics. I mean jesus, when you have a *national championship* win/loss ratio over .640...

And they're not getting that good playing against horrible teams. The rest of the conference pushes them.
[BORAT]Much Respect![/BORAT]

Let's look at Iowa wrestling history, in the 21 seasons Dan Gable coached the Hawkeyes, 21 Big Ten Championships, 15 NCAA championships. .940 winning percentage. 20 NCAA championships since 1975.
When it comes to throwin' down boys on a hot stinky gym mat, don't mess with us Iowa boys.

REgarding the brackets are upsets weighted?

I entered 3 brackets but for the purposes of this contest, I only want the bracket called "UNC Roolz!" to be my entry. I just did the other 2 to see how an "All top seeds" and a "popular picks" pre-filled brackets would do.

I say nothink.

(Pre-selecting the date range for a winning streak isn't fair, man... what's their overall historical average since the team was formed? Nice run though - yeesh.)

I don't believe so. It's Yahoo's default scoring system: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/bas...choops-13.html

The fifties and early sixties they were a consistent bridesmaid to Michigan who ruled the Big Ten. The Golden era began when Gable wrestled then later returned to coach, the hawkeyes. Dan Gable is to U of I wrestling what Mia Hamm (who I list as one of my favorite athletes) is to UNC women's soccer.

Arguably their entire history is not so grand, being 100 years. (nearly)

Yup. I don't do any serious gambling. I might spring for a $5 pool or something, or buy an occasional lottery ticket but beyond that, I know it's generally just throwing money away so I skip it.

I thought it could be adjusted to give weight to picking an upset, maybe I'm thinking of someone else's pool.

I didn't see any options to do that, but I think ESPN... or maybe CBS's pools do that.

How about Cornell in the final four? Now that would be insane!

I think it was 1988, the last time we won the Ivy League. We went in as a 16-seed and played number one-ranked Arizona. It was a total annihilation. Seeding is a tad more respectable this year, and hopefully they'll acquit themselves a little better.

Okay, my picks are IN Baby!

Final Four -> Tenn, Kansas, Stan, UCLA

I know... Stanford is a LONG shot... but I gotta be a little different.. Besides, the Pac is where its at. I admit that I am biased towards west coast schools. I have (Duke and NC) NOT making it past the 16.

UCLA beating Kansas to win it all...

Psycho T is gonna bring home a championship over UCLA. Texas is gonna knock off Memphis. Wisconsin will beat Georgetown and than lose to Kansas. Beasley will beat Mayo tomorrow.

Go me.

...and calling/e-mailing/texting ex-girlfriends on the off-chance they'll invite you over for some "old time's sake" no-strings couch gymnastics...

Don't hate on UNC just because they're in the ACC. We're a really good team, and not just hype. We're consistent, can pound the ball inside and score from the outside. We play "D" and we win close games. You'd be nuts to pick us to lose so early.

Yeah, UNC actually has a solid all-around game: inside, outside, breaks, D, bench. Their one problem is occasional lack of interest/heart as a team, but I don't think it's a problem this time of year. Clemson is much the same team, minus a few details.

Scheyer face is excellent. I'm passing it on to you-know-who.

Standford is a long shot, but I wouldn't be too surprised to even see them in the Elite 8. Uh, I mean, if they can get past Cornell, long shot that that is.

Hey, even I don't have Cornell getting past the second round.

I like how Penn and Princeton make the NCAAs every year and now that it's Cornell, all the snob-school jokes come out of the closet. Either that or it's the put-down about Cornell having 3 public colleges in it, therefore, not "real" Ivy League. Actually, some people (from Cornell) advocate Cornell leaving the Ivy League and joining the Big 10. It has a lot of commonalities and connections to schools like Iowa and Michigan, arguably more like them than its Ivy peers.

There is little less than an hour left if you still want to get into the basketball bracket deal.

I filled out about 3 more using the presets.

It's actually kind of funny what comes up when you let it pick randomly.

I might do a few more just for shits and gigglesl

Then maybe we are talking about different things. I'm referencing a local pool with a $3 entry.

For those of you that get ESPNU I would highly recommend the Syracuse Maryland game going on right now.

I was pissed during the first half that my CBS affiliate was showing Duke-Belmont instead of USC-Kstate...

All winners in my pool so far today. Didn't quite make it for ours.

But NCAAs aside. Can you not tell me that the NIT folks are jumping for joy that Syracuse is in and at home. 10,000 tickets sold for the round 1 game against Robert Morris. 15,000 for tonight's game against Maryland. It's most likely going to be 22-25,000 for Tuesday's game against Akron/UMass, especially if it's UMass (regular season revenge). 20k+ for an NIT game?!
