About a year and a half ago I was watching a movie on TV. I caught it about 20 minutes from the end. And at the end it didn't say the name of the movie.

I have been wondering what this movie is for a long time, but never bothered to try and find out. I know google won't help me here, so i'm going to try my luck with you guys.

The last scene of this film was with a young lady, and a little boy about 10, sitting at a dinner table eating. Shortly before this scene, a girl the same age as the boy left, in a carrige to some place, and they boy was really sad about it.

So, they're sitting at the table. The whole movie is kind of in the secret garden type of setting. Big house, stupid maids all over the place, fields, woods.

All of a sudden this guy in a suit, pops up at the window, and the boy and the woman freak out completely. they start yelling at each other, something about an uncle an a letter, and then all of a sudden the guy is inside. He didn't even open the door.

He's standing in there, He doesn't say a word.

The kid screams "Get out of here, you Devil" or sumthin like that. and then hugs that woman, and sobs in her arms, and then the guy kind of backs away into the darkness, and vanishes into thin air. The two people are still hugging, but ever so slowly, the woman moves him away from her, to see that he's dead. She lowers him to the ground, and bends over him, crying.

The End of the movie.

Does anyone know what that movie is?

Does anyone know what that movie I saw was?

It should be YOU'RE. YOU ARE is the conjunction you're going for. The possessive "your" is not your answer.

I know this is horrible, but this thread made me laugh so hard...my face hurts!

Some of the SW line readings above cracked me up. Sorry macgeek...but you planted some seeds and we're just having a bit of fun. You DID, after all, go and create 207 "Episode III" threads and wore everyone out with it.

macgeek, I don't know that movie. Do you know any one of the actors involved? If you knew just one, you could probably use IMDB to whittle it down and figure out which movie this is. I've done that before...

"Okay, I know it had Debra Winger...", then I go look at Debra Winger's page at IMDB, scroll through her movies, read the plots for each one, see if other actors involved might show in the list of credits, etc.

And maybe you could also ask your question at a movie-oriented message board? What genre was it? Drama, fantasy, sci-fi, children's, etc.

What's really annoying is that I actually think I've seen the movie, and for some reason Nicole Kidman keeps coming to mind. I'm probably confusing it with The Others though.

Heck, even a hint as to the clothing style would help. Contemporary? 19th century? 1940s?

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a site you could go to and type this kind of thing into (vaguely remembered scenes or dialogue), and it would somehow go out and access some database or log and would come back with the movie? Or even several possible "could be" offerings?

Or, for instance, if you only knew one tiny snippet of dialogue, you could enter it in and it would come back with the movie.

I realize there would be like 18,000 entries for "let's get the hell out of here", but macgeek's "get out of here, you devil" line above might be unique enough to result in the right movie.

Ha...the above scene is the exact moment - sitting in the theater, opening day in 1999 - that my heart kinda sunk and it dawned on me that "this is a rather shitty movie...that little kid can't act, and I'm already wishing this Jar Jar guy would get killed in the next scene somehow".

"Are you an Angel? Yippee!"

"Mesa so wanna tap Padme muy muy!"

I damn near cried on the drive home...

I think it was 1940's. all the women had dresses. and they boy was wearing a suit with a tie.

I've been searching under the name of Nicole Kidman, and the closest thing I found is a movie called "The Portrait of a Lady".

I'm not sure if it's it, but in a review at amazon.com it says that it's a tragedy, and the ending leaves the viewer to make up the rest.

Thread of the Week!!!

Are you sure the relative was an uncle and not... "Your Father"

Were there any robotic laser wielding characters in the movie?
Did the old devil man have, like, pins sticking out of his head?
Or maybe blue bolts from his fingers?

Sixth Sense has hidden/revealed dead people and kids and dresses.
But not the glowing Obiwan/Anakin kind.
And less ewoks.
