I want to purchase a flat panel to connect to my Macbook , i would love to purchase an Apple display but at $499 refurb i just can't justify it. Can anyone point me in the right direction to purchasing a 22 -30 inch display that will work with my Macbook.

You should look in the Purchasing Advice forum. There are a couple of relevant threads in there for you (including one I started just last week).

Thank you for the part # .... that cable looks really short, is that a problem? I 'll check out the post in buying advice.

It's an adapter, not a cable. You use it in conjunction with a regular DVI cable, which will likely come with the monitor anyway.
