This year, Superman Returns will feature 20 mins of 3D footage at IMAX 3D theaters. I don't know about any of you out there but I think this is HUGE! I love Stereoscopy and can't wait for more movies to come out in 3D! By far, the best justification for 3D that I've seen so far has been the IMAX Space Station film. Special effects are fun, as are flashing lights, spinning rings, and laser blasts.
But nothing can beat the sensation of looking past your feet at a bus-sized piece of space hardware while floating two hundred miles in the sky. Compared to that, every other 3D movie just sucks. |

Until it can improve the quality of the film, 3D tends to be a gimmick and often substitutes for production/writing/acting quality.
That said, the technology is improving, and where normal films only leave you with a greasy popcorn residue, with 3D flicks, you usually get a set of cool eyewear. <-- linked page (in Swedish) has historical 3d images, some NSFW |

You are right about that though. I love the technology more than anything. I can't wait to see Star Wars in the 3rd dimension though EDIT: I'm the only person I know that still owns a Virtual Boy and thinks it's time for Nintendo to release a color version. this message was brought to you by MrENGLISH™ WARNING: may contain Sarcasm and/or Bad Spelling Last edited by MrENGLISH™ : 2006-05-22 at 19:37. |

I actually heard that the 3-D version of "Chicken Little" was surprisingly decent.
This year, Disney is rereleasing The Nightmare Before Christmas in theaters in 3-D. I'm going to go see it, just because it's [i]The Nightmare Before Christmas[i/] and I can see it in theaters, but I hope the 3-D will be cool, too. and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong |

Roboman, did you like Bride of Corpse as well?
I really loved Burton's handiwork, and the style of clay figurines really get my fancy. I hope 3d will be as good. |

I'm looking forward to seeing Nightmare Before Christmas in theaters too.
Chicken Little was easy to convert to "3D" because it's already 3D in the computer. They just add a new camera next to the original one and render it out. Converting 2D to 3D is much more involved and even more impressive when done right! this message was brought to you by MrENGLISH™ WARNING: may contain Sarcasm and/or Bad Spelling |

Totally awesome.

I saw the Polar Express in 3D in IMAX. 3D isn't just taking an additional image and putting it next to the first one to let the viewer's mind make them one. It has more than two images, plus shading and blurring. To watch the movie without 3D glasses isn't that bad, either. Things have come a long way since the old 3D movies.
I'd recommend anyone to see a movie like this. And I wouldn't recommend anyone see the Polar Express at all. Well, maybe if it is 3D. |

IMAX is worth the time and effort... But 3D with plastic glasses in normal cinemas is a recipe for a headache and a crotch full of popcorn, or coke from the idiot next to you....

I've been working a digital cinema promo for a 3D film called Monster House.
I only had a typical, 2-D picture to work off of, but the REAL D Cinema format looks interesting. |
