Ok, so I have a co-worker who says he's running an MC server on an HP G7 laptop with a C2D 2.4GHz and 3.5 GB of RAM. He claims to have 15+ users simultaneously playing with no issues.

The problem here is we run a Xeon 3.3GHz (X5260) with 4GB of RAM and a system that only runs MC with a stripped down version of Cent OS.

I don't know how much RAM we have configured for the MC game to use, but I do know we run on a RAM Disk so that has to count for something.

Bottom line is he says his limitation is Cox Cable's upload speed from his house. I have more and solid via FiOS. Why don't we have that many at once?

So, I'd like us to coordinate and try to crush the server. Let's see what this thing can actually do. I know it's a holiday weekend for those of us in the States (and else somewhere else I think) but how about we all work to get on some night? I'm good for most nights after about 8PM EDT. We can have Brad lift the server limit and just see what happens. What do you guys think?

Bleh...I'll be home visiting family on Sunday night, meaning satellite Internet, meaning no Minecraft. Bah.

I think we've comprehensively establshed that that kills the server.

Well, I hope tomorrow will work for us. If not we can do it next week. It's not getting any traffic today. I looked at the log while I was at work and bb was the only one on today. Then, me.

I'd love to see us have 15+ on there at once, but this means people who haven't been on in a while for sure. Maybe we can get a group photo while we're at it.

No dice for me. I'm out of town and no internet.

You guys sure know how to pick em. Every single get together I've been unable to make it on.

I might be able to get on.

Will there be the obligatory server-crushing-load of TNT to play with (which nicely coincides with the 4th)?

I wasn't able to be here because I was at the evening service for church. I figured we would do a normal later evening testing. We will have to figure out another day maybe.

Was the results as of a few minutes ago when people had some lag issues.

I would have joined, but I am on 1.7.2. It helps me get more sleep at night. Despite my love for puzzle maps.
